IAD, Europe and the rest of the world

Being aware of the increasing need to internationalize academic programmes, the IAD has decided to take an active part in the development and consolidation of a European Artistic Higher Education Area for the institutions providing vocational training in the field of audiovisual and dramatic arts. The IAD is willing to develop partnerships with other schools and institutions within the E.U. By fostering students and teachers mobility, the IAD intends to give to the students and teachers from the performing arts schools in the E.U the opportunity to broaden their social, artistic and cultural experience and thereby to contribute to shaping a European identity.
In order to facilitate the students and teachers access to the exchanges between such schools and institutions, the IAD has applied for the Erasmus programme of the European Union and has been awarded an Erasmus University Charter by the European Commission since 2005.

With the support of the programme MEDIA 2007 and 2009 of the European Union, IAD is also the coordinator of TRIDOC, a project of co-prodcutions of documentaries based on the common training and work of students issued from different film schools of U.E. The film schools students of today will be the professionals of the audiovisual sector of tomorrow. The audiovisual sector is a sector that can become a strongcontributor to the economic activity of a continent. As the aim of the E.U. is to become one of the more competitive economy in the world (Lisbonne strategy) by investing in the economic growth and the creation of employment, the growth of a strong european audiovisual sector is one of the way to achieve the aim of Lisbonne. TRIDOC contributes, quite modestly, to the emergency of a wide audiovisual European network that will boost the audiovisual economic activity and the creativity in the E.U.

With the support of WBI (Wallonie Bruxelles international), IAD organises co-productions with Quebec and Burkina Faso. IAD has also concluded bilateral agreements with IMM at Ramallah, Palestine, ESAC at Tunis, Tunisia. Those agreements are supported by the French Community of Belgium and exchanges of students, organization of training at IAD or abroad with IAD’s teachers has been organized.

Being a member of the CILECT (Centre international de liaison des écoles de cinéma et de télévision) (International Liaison Centre of the film and television schools), of the GEECT (Groupe européen des écoles de cinéma et de télévision) (European Group of the film and television schools) and participating in various festivals and jurys (cinema, animation, theatre…) at regional, national, European and international level, the IAD contributes actively to intercultural dialog around the world.
